Rodri Gives Liverpool Title Race Warning After Man City Beat Burnley

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has fired a warning to Liverpool, claiming his side will ‘fight until the end’ of the Premier League season as the Citizens attempt to defend their title.

After being held to a 2-2 draw at St James’ Park against Newcastle United on Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s side got back to winning ways against Burnley as a brace from Gabriel Jesus, as well as goals from Rodri and Riyad Mahrez earned the visitors a 4-1 victory.

Despite Liverpool’s 11 point lead over their title rivals, there is a belief within the City camp that the Premier League is still very much up for grabs with 23 games still left to play.

“We still have every chance to win [the Premier League]”, Rodri said after the game against Burnley, as quoted by The Mirror.

The Spanish midfielder argued: “Until the maths says another team has won, we will give everything, fight until the end. We will see the best version of City now

“It was a good night for us. It was a needed victory for the team. It was important for us. We’re doing our best, but sometimes you don’t get the results. It’s a long way to the end of the season but, as I say, it’s important for us.”

The Sky Blues have already lost three times in the league this season, including a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in November.

However, upon City’s return to winning ways, Rodri insists that his side are finally finding their best form again.

We started very well against our opponents and knew exactly what we wanted to do,” said Rodri. “Our intensity was there – it’s the way to do it.”

Rodri has been instrumental for Guardiola’s side since joining the Manchester club from Atlético Madrid in the summer.

Speaking about his performance against the Clarets, Rodri added: “It was a great goal for me at an important moment for us.

“I don’t have many chances around the area. I want to shoot and score goals when I can. I think the first adaptation myself is complete. I want to be the best version I can be.”
